Tell us about yourself?
I’m Angelyn Myers. I’m married to my high school sweetheart and I’m a mom of 6 beautiful children. A year ago I had an idea and turned it into a product! Its called My “Buddy” Towel®
How did you get your idea or concept for the business?
It all started when my 4th oldest child insisted on using 3 towels after a bath! 1 for her hair, 1 for her body, and 1 wrapped around her legs! After finding myself frustrated too many times, I had an ah uh moment! My child needs a full body TOWEL to get into right after a bath. After doing research I found nothing like I needed. So, I decided to make my own towel and onesie in one! In less than a year I went from idea to manufacture to have them for sale online, in boutiques, and at a waterpark!
How much potential market share can you achieve in next 3 years?
I believe Parents everywhere will appreciate the convenience of their child using 1 towel, instead of two or three- and every child will want a My “Buddy” Towel® to slip on zipping up and GO!™
What was the best book or series that you’ve ever read?
Connected to Goodness: Manifest Everything you Desire in Business and Life by David Meltzer
What are the best and worst purchases you’ve ever made?
The best purchase I got is touchscreen HP pavilion laptop and the worst- many diet fad products
What takes up too much of your time?
I do all the marketing, negotiations, collaborations, emails, social media, fill orders, and shipping! So I have no time to waste!
What three pieces of advice would you give to college students/new startup business owners who want to become entrepreneurs?
Who has impressed you most with what they’ve accomplished?
I am impressed by Erin Borges, inventor of GoGo Gift bags! She’s a mom that turned her idea into a product and has been successful with HSN and sells in Target and Bed Bath and Beyond.
Tell us about something you are proud of – about your greatest challenge.
I’ve hit many bumps along this mompreneur journey. What I’ve learned is if there’s a will there’s a way! I’m proud I’ve surrounded myself with supportive like minded people! When I felt like giving up I turned to others who were there to listen, support, and offer amazing advice! (shout out-Katie Selleck, Tiffany Jenkins, CeAnne Kaiser, and David Harwick) These people in particular probably don’t know, but early on supported me by giving me advice which inspired me to keep going!
