Ilija Jahura is a Kelowna-based fitness expert and health consultant. Ilija primarily focuses on helping clients navigate all health and fitness related junctures in their daily lives, including diet planning, cardiovascular and hypertrophy training, as well as muscle and strength development.

He has long claimed that fitness is not his number one goal. His real goal is to help his clients feel comfortable in their own skin while tackling their own goals.

When onboarding a new client, the first thing Jahura asks is what kind of goals the client is looking to reach. Once this has been established, he works with the client to create a feasible plan to achieve those dreams.

Ilija says the most worthwhile part of his job is seeing a client getting the results they have worked so hard for. No feeling can be better than that.

When Jahura isn’t at work, he can often be found spending time with friends and family. As someone who is interested in learning what the body can do, Ilija is known around town for being a major sports fan: basketball, football, soccer — you name it!

And of course, Ilija Jahura also enjoys taking the time to get in a good workout or read up on the latest literature and news related to the physical fitness world.

Tell us about yourself?

Yeah, of course. My name is Ilija Jahura, and I’m a charismatic young man who is very interested in sports and everything having to do with athletics. In fact, that’s how I got started in my current position as a personal trainer. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and my two dogs. Or you can find me exploring the great outdoors — especially fishing.

What makes you different than other professionals in your field?

My number one rule is to treat everyone as an equal. I try to build a strong relationship between myself and my clients, and I want to make sure that the relationship is 100% at all times. I always try to give it my all.

How much potential market share can you achieve in the next 3 years?

That’s a tough question. I think I can gain quite a bit, to be honest. My goal right now is to build up a solid, sustainable business that is built upon repeat and referral clients, who are well-informed and educated when it comes to fitness.

What was the most important part of your professional journey?

The most important part of my journey is learning how to believe in myself. You have to get out there and know you can do things. If you can’t, it’s debilitating.

What are the best and worst purchases you’ve ever made?

Okay, well, the best purchase is real estate. Buying property is the best investment you can make. Bar none. The worst purchase? I’m not too sure. I think there’s no single worst purchase for me if I’m honest. I’m a very frugal person.

What takes up too much of your time?

It would have to be either going to the gym or fishing.

What three pieces of advice would you give to college students/new startup business owners who want to become entrepreneurs?

Sure, the three things would have to be this:

  • Always love yourself and what you do
  • Don’t be scared to fail
  • You will learn your best lessons through your mistakes

Who has impressed you most with what they’ve accomplished?

There is no single specific person that I can reference. I am very proud of everyone who has achieved their personal goals by working alongside me and with my programs.

What drives you to keep going when it’s really tough?

Honestly? Being a perfectionist is a huge boost. But being with my loved ones is also massive support.

How should people connect with you?
