It was just announced that Bill Hader and Anna Kendrick have secretly been dating for over a year.
The sudden news was announced by an anonymous source, who said that the Pitch Perfect actress and Saturday Night Live Alum had been enjoying time together since they worked on a Christmas film together back in 2019.
According to People Magazine, the source revealed:
“[Hader and Kendrick] are both very private people, and with the pandemic it was easy to keep it quiet,” adds the source. “They’re both hysterical so they must keep each other laughing all of the time. She’s really, really happy.”
Hader announced his divorce from writer-director Maggie Carrey in 2018 and has kept his romantic life relatively under the radar over the years.
Kendrick, similarly, has been good at keeping her personal life away from the press, which explains why it was easy for her to hide her relationship with the comedian from the public for this long.
Bill Hader On Screen
Hader is best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, which he starred in from 2005 to 2013.
He was the second featured player to have been nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on the show after Eddie Murphy achieved the feat in 1984.
One of Hader’s best-known characters is Stefon, the New York correspondent for the show’s Weekend Update segment.
Hader was consistently praised for his wide variety of impressions on the show, having impersonated Vincent Price, Harvey Fierstein, Al Pacino, Charlie Sheen, Alan Alda, and John Malkovitch, amongst others.
Despite his success, Hader often suffered from extreme migraines during his time on the sketch series, once experiencing one on-air that meant that costar Jason Sudeikis had to help Hader offstage after he temporarily lost his vision.
Hader had branched into film work with some of his SNL costars while working on the show, appearing in films like Hot Rod and The Skeleton Twins.
The role that truly put Hader on the map was his portrayal of Officer Slater in Superbad, for which he has become one of the most beloved movie characters of the era.
Since then, he has made appearances in film projects, as well as led the satirical series Documentary Now! With Fred Armisen.
Since 2018, Hader has been the lead writer and actor of Barry, a show about a hitman who discovers his passion lies in acting.
The show has been a commercial and critical success, with Hader being praised for his work on and off the screen.
Hader’s Personal Life
In 2006, Bill Hader married writer Maggie Carrey, with whom he shares three daughters.
Hader filed for separation from Carrey in 2017, and the two were officially divorced the following year.
With recent appearances on television as well as in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and It: Chapter Two, Hader’s personal life became a much-discussed topic online.
In 2020, Hader went public with his To-Do List costar Rachel Bilson at that year’s Golden Globe awards.
The two were first spotted in Hader’s hometown in February 2019 and sparked rumors after routinely being photographed together. They broke things off just six months after attending the Golden Globes.
His Relationship With Anna Kendrick
Although nobody really knows how things got started between Hader and Kendrick, it is safe to assume they started something up after working together on Noelle.
A source revealed that the couple had begun dating after Hader’s split from Bilson, and he and the Oscar-nominated actress had been keeping things under wraps since then.
Kendrick, who recently starred in HBO’s Love Life, spoke up about her feelings on romance in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, saying:
“Well, as far as keeping [a relationship] private, it isn’t easy,” she stated. “But that’s just always how it’s been for me.”
Fans are not entirely surprised that Kendrick could hide her relationship with the Barry star, seeing as her social media presence is fairly limited, and he does not use any platform at all.
Speaking about her decision to keep her private life away from the public eye, Kendrick recalled her early dating experiences, adding:
“It was painful at times and I cringed at the way that I, and so many women that I know, dated guys in our early 20s – the way we were so awkward and needy and clingy. Looking back now, it’s like, ‘Oh god, I acted like such a jerk in that relationship.’ Or all the times I didn’t feel strong enough to say, ‘You can’t speak to me that way.’ I’m just so happy that I’m clearer now about what I will accept from people in my life.”
