The Vizaca Billionaires Index is an up to date ranking of the world’s wealthiest people. In order for their net worths and fortunes, we provide authentic, reliable and transparent calculations available which can be found in each individual profile on our site – giving you all necessary information about how your favorite billionaire made it Big!
Wealth is a dynamic measure of personal assets and changes in markets, the economy. The Index updates every business day after close to trading during the New York session; it tracks Vizaca reporting by net worth figures that are updated monthly or quarterly (depending on data availability). Stakes held publicly traded companies valued using share prices from the latest closing bell – converted into USD at current exchange rates.
The best way to value a closely held company is by looking at how their enterprise compares with similar public firms. In general, this can be done through either the EV/Ebitda ratio or P/E accounting for debt obligations of each comparable transaction and converting that into an estimate based on net borrowing power (or lack thereof).
There are a lot of factors that go into the value adjustment process for closely held companies. The criteria used to choose peer companies is based on your industry and size, as well as market movements in other similar industries or relevant indexes like GDP (Gross Domestic Product) growth rates across countries around the world – all put together by an algorithm.
Ownership of closely held assets is not included in the calculations if it cannot be verified. If a billionaire has pledged shares he or she holds in public companies as collateral, those values are removed from net worth calculation unless reliable information can also be obtained about how those borrowed funds will ultimately function; this may occur for instance when they’re used to finance business operations.
Hedge funds are valued using the average market capitalization-to assets under management ratio of comparable publicly traded funds. Fee income is not considered because it cannot be uniformly verified, personal funds invested along with outside capital aren’t included in this calculation.
Net worth calculations are made by deducting taxes from the proceeds of shares sold and dividend income paid. The resulting number is then taxed at rates applicable in that country for billionaires, which can be up to 47%. If there’s evidence supporting lower tax percentages due circumstances like low unemployment or high GDP per capita (which would make it easier not only financially but also emotionally), these explanations will appear throughout your report instead. For calculations of cash and other investable assets, a hybrid return based on holdings in cash, government bonds, equities and commodities is applied.
Billionaire’s families often hold a portion of their assets. Such transfers don’t change who ultimately controls the fortune. According to Vizaca’s operating principle, all billionaire riches are fundamentally familial fortunes, and these fortunes are credited to the company’s founders or other prominent family members who are proven to have direct influence over the assets.
Value is credited to each person when separate stakes can be established and mature family members participate actively in a firm.
