How Selling Sunset Improved Chrishell Stause’s Net Worth In a Matter Of Months

Chrishell Stause’s Net Worth

What was the perfect show to binge over lockdown? According to many Netflix users, it was a reality show about rich people selling overpriced houses to other rich people.

Selling Sunset debuted In March 2019, but it was not until the second season that the show picked up steam on the platform.

With nothing much to do, viewers were hooked on the drama and inner workings of the Oppenheim real estate and brokerage firm, based in Los Angeles.

Chrishell Stause, former soap opera actress and at the time of the show’s premiere, wife of This Is Us actor Justin Hartley, has quickly become a fan favorite.

Since her appearance on the show, she has been all over the gossip columns after her devastating divorce and subsequent relationships.

On the show, she regularly shows off the most expensive clothing and walks the camera crew through her own million-dollar home, but how much has the actress-turned-realtor’s net worth since the boom in popularity?

Chrishell Stause’s Selling Sunset Earnings

Stause reportedly has a net worth of around $5 million.

Selling Sunset goes into detail about the process of selling multi-million dollar homes, which includes the exact asking and selling prices and the commission each person who makes a sale receives for each home.

Stause’s fellow realtor (and sometimes nemesis) on the show, Davina Potratz, revealed that the ladies don’t earn the entirety of the commission listed on the show.

Potratz told Evoke that commissions are split between the realtor and brokerage, meaning the Oppenheim brothers receive a hefty cut.

Without mentioning the exact value of each commission, Potratz explained that “everyone has different splits based on their background and experience and their relationship with the brokerage. It depends also [on] how much the broker was involved sometimes, but usually, it’s a set split.”

Stause is still fairly new to the brokerage but has made a couple of impressive sales during her time there. Based on how each cheque is split, it has been estimated that Stause receives a small percentage compared to her colleagues.

Sources estimate that Status has nearly $16 million worth of house sales through seasons 1 to 3 of the show, with her total commission amounting to $539,670.

She received $404,752 of that total.

On the show, Stause often speaks about being homeless before breaking into the soap opera world, repeatedly saying that she will never take money for granted despite her lavish lifestyle.

Soap Opera Paycheck

Before making it big as a realtor, Stause was regularly featured on popular soap operas, having a significant role as Amanda Dillon in All My Children.

Stause played the role from 2005 to 2011.

She then had a starring role on Days Of Our Lives, having been cast as Jordan Ridgeway in 2013.

Stause left the show two years later but reprised the character in February 2019.

Even though acting in soap operas does not mean actors land huge paychecks, Stause earned a decent amount from each show she was in.

The numbers have not been revealed, but it is widely known that soap opera actors earn between $500 and $1,000 for each episode they appear in.

In a 2018 interview with Daily Actor, Stause discussed her love of soap opera acting, describing the process as an “acting boot camp.”

She added:

“It’s not like you’re getting to feel these scenes out and see where they can go. You really have to do all of that work outside of the set before you hit the set. When you hit the set, you really have to be ready to go. That’s a very grueling schedule because a lot of times you don’t get home until a certain time. You have to start over and do the whole thing again the next day. Five days of that a week, it’s boot camp for sure, but in the best way. I love it so much. I will always have a love for it, really.”

Social Media and Dancing With The Stars

Stause is an avid social media user, often participating in brand endorsements on her Instagram account.

She makes around $3,750 per post through these, thanks to partnerships with T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and DSW.

Stause appeared on the 29th season of Dancing With The Stars, making it to eighth place. She may have earned $125,000 for her appearance, although this figure is just an estimate.

Divorce and Division Of Assets

A major plot point in the early seasons of Selling Sunset was Stause’s unexpected divorce from Hartley.

At the end of season 2, Christine Quinn announced that Hartley had suddenly filed for divorce, with many members of the Oppenheim group excitedly analyzing the situation.

According to TMZ, Stause and Hartley did not sign a prenuptial agreement before their marriage.

It was reported that arguments over Hartley’s skyrocketing earnings caused the split.

Every primary cast member of This Is Us reportedly earned $250,000 per episode, and with eighteen a season, Stause’s ex-husband earned approximately $4.5 million per season.

TMZ also noted that Hartley listed the separation date as five months before filing for divorce, speculating that this was done to avoid including his new millions in the settlement.

In terms of real estate, Stause and Hartley purchased a 6,700 square foot home in Encino, California, in April 2019.

Following the divorce, she bought a $3.3 million home in the Hollywood Hills, presumably through her network in the Oppenheim group.

Stause’s Personal Life

After her divorce, Stause went public about her brief relationship with Dancing With The Stars cast member Keo Motsepe in December 2020. They split two months later.

In July, she began dating her Selling Subset boss Jason Oppenheim, with their relationship said to be a focal point of the show’s upcoming season.

The couple broke up earlier this month, and Oppenheim listed his $11 million home after the news.

Stause was reportedly unhappy with Oppenheim not wanting to have children, citing this as the primary reason for the split.
