However, when the police arrived, they heard the music running in the background, “He Touched Me.”

After killing her baby, she was sitting calmly and covered in blood, holding a knife in her hand while singing the Christian.

Why did Dena Schlosser kill her 11-month-old daughter? Did she receive any allegations about her murder? What documentaries have been created till now on the case? & Where is Dena Schlosser now? Let’s find out.

Dena Schlosser Early Life & Education

Dena was born in Texas, the United States, and when she was eight years old, she was diagnosed with hydrocephalus.

Since then, she had gone through eight surgeries to implant shunts into her brain, heart, and abdomen before she was 13 years old.

Dena went to Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York,  and acquired a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and then she tied a knot with John Schlosser.

Schlosser met  John Schlosser at her university, and both studied at Marist. She graduated from Marist while John was still in an urge to complete his bachelor’s degree.

After working and experiencing jobs, both married each other and were blessed with a daughter.

Why Did Dena Schlosser Kill Margaret Schlosser?

After tying a knot, John and Dena Schlosser were living a happy and contented life and were enjoying their lives.

John started attending  Water of Life Church when he was desperate to find a handsome job and attain a higher post and position, so he started visiting a church to have good faith.

The couple began to face a tough time financially, and they left their home since it was unaffordable for them and shifted to a place near the church, which was 120 miles away from Plano.

Additionally, they had to shift the home, which had not many expenses as they were living hand to mouth.

To put oil on the fire, Dena Schlosser had to bear the brunt of three miscarriages.

And after three miscarriages, the couple was blessed with a daughter– Margaret; after her birth, she went into despair and deep postpartum depression.

In some of the reports, it is mentioned that Dena did not want to deliver a baby, and after the birth of Margaret, on the very next day, she tried to commit suicide.

After a severe injury, Schlosser was then hospitalized in a psychiatric ward and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder with psychotic features.

Prior to the year of her delivery,  Texas Child Protective Services (CPS) investigated Dena after being diagnosed with a psychotic episode.

And the court ordered her family to never leave Dena alone with her children because of her mental condition.

John Schlosser continuously refused to get her any sort of psychological assistance with the argument that church teaching does not allow for assistance to her.

The night prior to the murder of Margret, John Schlosser brutally beat her wife with a wooden spoon in front of their children.

The reason for John beating her wife was her claim to give her child to someone.

Dena claimed: “She wanted to give her child to Doyle.”

On the other hand, David Self – a psychiatrist who was handling her case and was taking care of Dena, said:  “She felt she was basically commanded, in essence, to cut [Margaret Schlosser’s] arms off and her own arms off, and her legs and her head, and in some way to give them to God.”

David further said! That she would have postpartum psychosis.

After killing her daughter, Schlosser was humming a Christian song and repeatedly saying, “Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Lord.”

She Was Not Found Guilty Because Of Her Mental Sickness

During the Dena Schlosser case,  things got too bad and strange.

Doyle Davidson justified the case that all the mental sickness was “Satanic” in nature.

He further said: “I do not believe that any mental illness exists other than demons, and no medication can straighten it out, other than the power of God.”

However, John asked for a separation, filed for divorce from Dena, and availed the custody of their daughters under his control.  And thanked that their other children were not harmed in the case.

During the trial, Dena Schlosser was not found guilty since her mental sickness, and after the murder, she was facilitated by a psychiatrist.

During the facility time period, she became the close friend of Andrea Yates, who was the Texas woman who had murdered her five children.

Dena Schlosser, after meeting Yates: “She is almost my identical personality, I think we’ll be friends forever. I’ve only known her for a short period of time, but I believe the feeling is mutual. She probably thinks the same thing.”

She was released in 2008 and ordered to restrain from further delivery. She was sent to her home with antipsychotic medications.
