Ed Sheeran’s wife’s health update revealed a scary health complication during her pregnancy, which the singer-songwriter recently opened up about.
Cherry Seaborn was diagnosed with a tumor while pregnant with their second daughter, Jupiter, who was born in May 2021.
Sheeran shared with his social media followers that his wife was not able to receive treatment until after the baby was born.
The news came as the couple was also dealing with the death of a close friend and a copyright infringement case against him over his hit song “Shape of You.”
Sheeran didn’t provide an update on Seaborn’s current health status but mentioned the incident as the inspiration behind his new album Subtract.
However, Ed Sheeran’s wife, Cherry Seaborn, is recovering after discovering a tumor while pregnant with their second child, Jupiter, last May.
The experience was traumatic, but they are looking to put it behind them and are hopeful for a better 2023.
Ed’s fans were quick to send their support, writing: “Hope Cherry is okay, and you are both on the road to recovery,” and: “PLEASE send all of our love to Cherry, we really hope she’s doing much better now.”
Sheeran has been working on a new album titled “Subtract,” which is set to be his most personal yet.
The album was initially a decade’s worth of material he had been working on, but he replaced it with new songs he wrote as therapy during the most difficult time of his life.
He explained that a series of events, including Seaborn’s health scare, the sudden death of close friend Jamal Edwards, and a lawsuit over his song “Shape of You,” changed his life, mental health, and the way he viewed music and art.
Writing to fans on Instagram, Sheeran explained how he wrote the new songs without thought of what they would be, simply writing whatever tumbled out.
He said that he was spiraling through fear, depression, and anxiety, feeling like he was drowning and unable to break through for air.
The album is his way of making sense of everything that happened to him last year and is a diary entry from last February.
Sheeran and Seaborn are very private, and the star does not often post about his family life. The couple wed in 2019 and have a 2-year-old daughter, Lyra.
Sheeran’s close friend, Jamal Edwards, was a British entrepreneur who gave Sheeran his big break through his media company, SBTV.
Edwards died at age 31 after a sudden illness in February 2022.
Sheeran found himself standing in court defending his integrity and career as a songwriter over a lawsuit alleging he plagiarized “Shape of You” from an artist named Sami Switch. Sheeran won the case in April 2022.
“Subtract” is set to be released on May 5, following a series of other mathematic-themed albums from Sheeran, including “Plus,” “Multiply,” “Divide,” and “Equals.”
For the first time, Sheeran is not trying to craft an album that people will like but is merely putting something out that is honest and true to where he is in his adult life.
He hopes that his fans will appreciate the honesty and that the album will resonate with those who have been through difficult times.
