Glen Kuiper’s Wife – What Does She Think Of Her Husband’s Wrongdoing?

Glen Kuiper Wife - What Does She Think Of Her Husband’s Wrongdoing

Glen Kuiper wife has successfully managed to stay away from all the drama and controversy that currently surrounds her husband.

Sports broadcaster, Glen Kuiper, was the main play-by-play announcer for Oakland Athletics from 2006 to 2023.

His job entailed announcing the team’s games on NBC Sports California and sometimes speaking for The Oakland Athletics Radio Network.

This week, Glen was fired by NBC Sports as a result of an investigation into some inappropriate remarks he made during one of his recent broadcasts.

As per Sporting News, on Friday, May 5, 2023, Glen Kuiper used a racial slur on-air while doing a pre-game segment with commentator Dallas Braden at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

At the time of the unfortunate incident, he was discussing visiting the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Following day, an NBC Sports California spokesperson revealed that the sports broadcaster was suspended indefinitely.

Moreover, on May 6th, Oakland Athletics Communications Twitter page said: “The language used by Glen Kuiper during today’s pregame broadcast is unacceptable. The Oakland Athletics do not condone such language. We are working to address the situation.”

After thoroughly investigating the incident for sixteen days, NBC Sports California announced on May 22nd, 2023, that they are ending all ties with Glen Kuiper and he will no longer be a part of the network.

A spokesman for the Sports network said: “Following an internal review, the decision has been made for NBC Sports California to end its relationship with Glen Kuiper, effective immediately.”

In the statement, NBC also thanked Glen for his dedication to Bay Area baseball over the years.

Glen’s use of a racial slur and his subsequent firing from NBC should have put his plans to visit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum on hold. But that wasn’t the case.

NLBM head Bob Kendrick said: “I’m aware of the unfortunate slur made by Glen Kuiper. I welcomed Glen to NLBM yesterday and know he was genuinely excited to be here. The word used by him is painful and has no place in our society.”

He added that he doesn’t know what was going on in Glen’s heart and mind when he used such an inappropriate word.

But since he is only responsible for his actions, he would like to forgive Glen and asked the others to follow suit.

Glen Kuiper’s wife, Amanda, has maintained complete silence ever since her husband landed himself in hot waters.

Did Glen Kuiper have any remorse for his action?

Glen Kuiper issued an apology during the sixth inning of the same baseball game between the Oakland Athletics and the Kansas City Royals.

He clarified himself by saying that the people perceived what he said in a different way compared to how he wanted them to.

Kuiper added that he still wanted to apologize to all those who got hurt by his statement. The broadcaster later said: “I could not be more sorry and horrified by what I said. I hope you will accept my sincerest apologies.”

It’s important to note that Glen Kuiper repeatedly said that the words that came out of his mouth did not communicate what he actually wanted to say.

No matter how big a mistake, a genuine apology should be enough to let it be a thing of the past.

Will people find it in their hearts to let go of Glen Kuiper’s wrongdoing? Only time will tell.

Moving forward, let’s get an insight into the former sports broadcaster’s personal life.

Glen Kuiper early life

The former Major League Baseball Oakland Athletics’ sports broadcaster came into this world on May 20th, 1963. Glen is a native of Racine, Wisconsin.

Before he became a renowned sports broadcaster, Glen was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 243rd overall pick of the amateur entry draft in the 10th round in 1982.

His selection came out of community college.

Surprisingly, he declined the prestigious offer. Glen wanted to continue his studies which is why he didn’t accept the Reds’ offer.

That might have looked like a wise decision back then, but things didn’t stay that way for a very long time.

Glen Kuiper finally joined minor league baseball with the Spokane Indians and Erie Cardinals. He played for two years as an infielder (primarily at 2B).

Even then, he didn’t abandon his studies. After playing for two years, he joined the University of New Orleans.

During his twenties, he moved to the Bay Area and earned a broadcasting bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University.

Kuiper began his broadcasting career almost two decades ago. He worked as an on-field correspondent and replacement announcer for the first two years.

Two years later, in 2006, he was hired as the announcer in charge.

Before he was fired, Glen sometimes served as Fox’s national play-by-play commentator for Oakland Athletics’ games.

From 1996 to 2000, Kuiper hosted the 30-minute condensed highlight shows “Giants Lite” and “A’s Lite” on SportsChannel Pacific and eventually FSN Bay Area, which provided a summary of the games that weren’t telecast.

Who is Glen Kuiper’s wife?

Doubtlessly, Glen Kuiper is a married man. Since his wife lives a private life, not much is known about her except her name, Amanda.

The pair also has two children together and all of them live together in Danville, California.

Apart from Glen, his elder brother, Duane Kuiper, is also a sports broadcaster. He works for San Francisco Giants.
