If you have been using a Facebook account for a long time, or simply if you are habitual of posting a lot on your Facebook Timeline, you might start thinking about cleaning it up by deleting some or all of those unnecessary and embarrassing posts which you somehow posted and later regret whenever Facebook prompts you via memory of previous years.

However, it is a very time-consuming process to delete Facebook posts one by one. If you are not able to deal with the embarrassments anymore, here is a new and easy way that you can make you able to delete your old Facebook posts and statuses in minutes.

How to Select Multiple Facebook Posts to Delete Them in Bulk

The initial step to deleting your old Facebook posts is to select them. There are a few methods to do that, including filtering posts if you want to delete something particular.

1: In a web browser, go to Facebook.com and sign in to your account. Click to your name at the top of the left sidebar or in the menu bar to go to your profile.

On the mobile app, select the Profile icon at the top of the screen for iOS or Android apps.

2: On your profile, click Activity Log. You need to click on that button. Like showing in the below picture

3: On Facebook.com, filters are found in the left column. Select posts by Anyone, You or Others. You can also choose Only posts I’m tagged in and define a date.

On the app, click Filters at the top to show the filter options. Use the filter drop-down lists to choose the date they were posted, who they were posted by, the privacy setting of the post, and only posts you were tagged in.

Advice: Take the help of the filtering options to support you get the posts you like to delete. The filters are exceptionally effective for searching old posts quickly without wasting time scrolling down through your Timeline.

4: Choose the square checkbox at the top right corner of any post thumbnail you like to remove on Facebook.com. On the app, tap the round checkbox to the left of any post you require to delete.

When you have selected all the posts you want to delete, click Next at the bottom of the screen on Facebook.com. On the app, tap the trash can icon at the bottom of the screen.

Note: You can only choose up to 50 posts to remove at a time.

Advice: To see the full post on Facebook.com, choose the post thumbnail. A window comes displaying you the full post so you can make a better choice regarding whether you like to keep the post or delete it.

5: On Facebook.com, choose Delete Posts > Done. On the app, tap Delete from the list that appears.

Advice: Deletion is perpetual. If you do not want to delete these posts permanently, you can hide them rather, so they no longer display on your profile Timeline. You can also unhide these posts by operating to your Activity Log on your profile.

Can’t Able to Delete Some Posts?

You might see that when you attempt to delete some posts, the deletion option appears in a gray color that suggests you are only able to choose the hide option. This might happen for some posts like profile picture updates, posts that were not generated by you, or posts with specific privacy settings.

For posts you are unable to delete through the manage posts option, you can still move forward and delete them separately. Just search them on your Timeline, pick the three dots in the top right corner of the individual post, and click Delete.

How to Hide Your Post from Facebook Timeline

It is feasible to limit the visibility of old photos and posts by making them private rather than deleting them completely. From your Timeline, click the ellipsis next to the post you like to hide, then click Hide from Timeline in the drop-down menu.

To only hide the post from some specific people, click the ellipsis button and then Edit audience on Facebook.com or Edit privacy app, where you can choose which groups of people or individuals can view your post. Here, you can also set it to Only me, so only you can view it.

How to Limit Your Past Posts

Facebook also has a tool to hide public Timeline posts en masse. To perform this, go to Settings > Privacy > Limit Past Posts. After tapping the Limit Past Posts button, a notification will pop up informing you that all your public posts will be turned into Friends only. If that’s all fine, then click Limit Past Posts again and your public posts will only be apparent to those on your friends’ list.

If you want to do this task on mobile, you will have to go for the Privacy Checkup tool by going to Settings & Privacy > Privacy Shortcuts, then click Review a few necessary privacy settings under the Privacy section. Click on who can view what you post and continue through the checkup until you view Future Posts and Limit Past Posts. You can make future posts apparent to anyone, friends only, or just you. Or pick specific people who can view or not view your posts. Click Limit to automatically make past posts viewable to only your friends.

So, these are the easy methods we share with you if you want to delete your embarrassing posts from the past, and also give alternatives to deleting posts that are permanent. We hope it will help you in your work. Still, if you have any query your question will always be welcomed.
