Unfortunately, Hunter Awtrey accident took his life.
Hunter Awtrey was a young man full of life who tragically passed away on July 5, 2020, at the age of 22 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
The news of his sudden death shocked his loved ones and the community, who knew him as a talented and dedicated individual with a passion for outdoor activities and sports.
Who was Hunter Awtrey?
He was known for his integrity, work ethic, and positive attitude, and he had no trouble finding work. Hunter was a true outdoor man who loved exploring the great outdoors.
Whether he was deer hunting, fishing, golfing, snowboarding, or riding his dirt bike, he was always eager to embrace the thrill of adventure.
Despite his love for adrenaline-fueled activities, Hunter’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. In addition to his athletic abilities, Hunter was an exceptional student.
He played baseball, basketball, and varsity football at Trinity High School, where he graduated in 2016, before moving on to UNC-Charlotte to study business and finance.
Hunter was also an active member of the college community, serving as the Social Chairman of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and the Vice-President of Recruitment for the school’s Interfraternity Council.
At the time of his death, he was interning for Northwestern Mutual in Charlotte’s Client Services Department.
