According to Africa Trendy, a digital media company for opinion-based rankings and crowdsourcing revealed their list of richest men in Angola where the former President of the state José Eduardo Dos Santos leads in a fortune valued at about the U.S $20 billion.
Angola’s Long term President
Besides being the richest man in the country, he is an Angolan politician who served as a President of Angola. During his times of power, he was the commander in chief of the Angolan Armed Forces. His party was the first political party that has ruled the state of Angola since it gained independence in 1975. He ruled the country for the longest period from 1979 to 2017. He collected all of this money in times of his power.
José Eduardo Dos Santos was born on August 28, 1942, in the district of Sambizanga in Luanda. He is the elder son of Angola’s ex-jailed leader, Avelino Eduardo Dos Santos and Jacinta José Paulino. He went to primary school in Luanda for his early education and then received his secondary education at the Liceu Salvador Correia, which is called Mutu ya Kivela nowadays.

While his secondary education, he joined the MPLA, which was the beginning of his political career. The colonial government started to repress which made him go into exile in neighboring Congo-Brazzaville in 1961. After his joining MPLA he soon became an official member of the party. In 1969, he moved into the Soviet Union for the continuation of his studies, where he studied in the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemical Institute and received degrees in radar communication and petroleum engineering. José Eduardo Dos Santos is now the most influential and richest person in Angola, and one of the most powerful men in Africa.
José Eduardo Dos Santos married three times and had six children from his three wives, and one born out of wedlock. His first wife was Russian by birth, Tatiana Kukanova, whom he met while studying at Azerbaijan Oil and Chemical Institute. Dos Santos and Kukanova’s children, including Isabel Dos Santos, are listed among the richest women in Africa and considered as the 100 most influential women in the world by BBC. One of his children Filomena Sousa served as a Chair of Fundo Soberano de Angola alongside her sibling Maria Luísa Abrantes Perdigão. Whereas, one of his children is a Angolan artist, Coréon Dú.
