Tell us about yourself?

I am 24 years old and I am originally from Oklahoma and have been living in Charlotte, North Carolina for about 6 years now. I love using social media to make genuine connections and relationships with people all around the world.

How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

I originally started my business because I understood the need and I have always been passionate about entrepreneurship and helping entrepreneurs reach their goals. I went to school for culinary arts and started a catering business after graduating and was not able to get it off the ground due to lack of reach, mostly because I did not know many people in North Carolina. I began to realize that the only way to be successful with a startup these days is to use social media the right way. In understanding this, I began to research using social media for business and I found that people actually manage social media accounts for business and I was immediately interested. I had been searching for new career paths because I was looking to get out of the culinary industry so I gave it try and I have loved it since then. I love that I can effectively help entrepreneurs and business owners by relaying their story to the world and building a community around their brand.

How much potential market share can you achieve in next 3 years?

Digital marketing is huge and I cannot see that changing any time soon! This industry will continue to grow expeditiously each year. My main focus is helping entrepreneurs and business owners reach their goals, not so much on competition and market share.

What was the best book or series that you’ve ever read?

The Rules of Life by Richard Templar is an amazing book. I love reading books that I can use to better myself and this book definitely gave me some insight into how things I do or say can affect others. The Rules of Life is an eye opener and I am much more conscious of my actions because of it.

What are the best and worst purchases you’ve ever made?

The best purchase I have ever made was the Social Media United course and group with Rachel Pedersen. This group is amazing and extremely helpful for keeping up with the industry and connecting with like-minded people.

The worst purchase I have ever made was Facebook ads before I knew what I was doing. When I was doing my culinary business I literally did not research I just thought it was a quick and easy way to get more clients so I purchased Facebook ads. I now wish I had that money back now that I understand Facebook ads so much better and know why I never made any money from those ads.

What takes up too much of your time?

The thing that takes up most of my time is working my regular 9-5 job. I learn a lot but it definitely takes up valuable time that I could be using to make money in my business.

What three pieces of advice would you give to college students/new startup business owners who want to become entrepreneurs?

#1. Take your time! It is not a race to the finish line, as a college student just because you are “supposed” to have your degree in a certain amount of years does not mean you HAVE to. The best thing you can do for yourself is, to be honest with yourself about the workload you can handle and your mental state. Neither college nor entrepreneurship are easy so it is important to check in with yourself to make sure you are ok.

#2 Stay Focused. You may have a lot of ideas and things that you want to accomplish in your life but you don’t have to do it all RIGHT NOW. You have your whole life ahead of you, it is better to successfully do one thing at a time than to be mediocre at a lot of things. This goes back to checking in with yourself and being honest about what you can and cannot handle.

#3 Have Fun! I know a lot of influencers and successful people will tell you just work and enjoy later but to me, it is so much better when you have a healthy balance. It is okay to focus and also enjoy yourself sometimes. If you have not noticed, mental health is something that is super important to me so I will always encourage being focused but also making sure you are in a good mental place in order to be effective, no matter what you are trying to do.

Who has impressed you most with what they’ve accomplished?

Rheagan Gilmore aka Ajna Surah has impressed me most with what she has accomplished. She has a seriously amazing story and has turned her life around and created such a beautiful community of people who desire to be whole and be the best version of themselves. The Healing Place Family is such a beautiful community, I am amazed every day at how it grows and makes a difference in people’s lives.

Tell us about something you are proud of – about your greatest challenge.

I am proud of the woman I have become. My greatest challenge has been finding my voice and using it. I am so glad that after years of working to push my own internal boundaries, I can speak with confidence and share my actual thoughts that are not just what I assume people want to hear. I used to be so shy and I am so glad I have come out of my cocoon, which is powerful for not only myself personally but also for my business and the success I desire.
