Latasha Wright’s obituary details were revealed by her family. A beloved daughter, sister, and mother passed away on December 4th, 2022, at age 39.
Officers were dispatched to the area near S. Fort Hood Road and West Lane to investigate the wreck shortly before 10 p.m. on December 4.
They located the 39-year-old Wright suffering from serious injuries and started performing life-saving measures until paramedics arrived.
Latasha eventually succumbed to her injuries, police said, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 10:43 p.m.
Police said the suspect driver fled the scene in a light-colored pickup.
On Monday, December 12th, Chakria Dominique Lee, 35, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the December 4 hit-and-run that took the life of Latasha.
She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke and was held in the Bell County Jail on a $1 million bond.
Latasha was profoundly loved by her parents, Samuel and Bernadette Wright. She is survived by her three beautiful sons, James Mitchell (17), Jamir Mitchell (14), and Willie Eastland III (8).
Her sons were devastated by their mother’s untimely death.
Since she belonged to a military family, Latasha moved a lot when she was a child. Her family finally settled in Killeen, Texas, where she attended elementary, middle, and high school.
Latasha made a name for herself in the administrative and sales industry and was one of the highest-performing sales individuals.
The deceased belonged to a huge family and is now survived by her four siblings and countless additional inlaws, uncles, aunts, nephews, and nieces.
She is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, maternal grandmother Olivia Artis, and maternal uncles Ronnie and Michael Artis.
Latasha’s funeral services were held at Rivers of Living Waters Church, and she was buried at Killeen Memorial Park, Killeen, Texas.
