“Lisa Marie Presley’s cause of death was a tragic heart attack,” her mother, Priscilla Presley, said in a statement.
She was hospitalized on Wednesday and passed away on Thursday. The singer was 54 years old.
In a statement released Thursday night, Priscilla Presley stated, “It is with great sorrow that I must deliver the tragic news that my beloved daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most impassioned, energetic, and caring woman I’ve ever met.”
Priscilla had verified only a few hours before that Lisa Presley, daughter of prominent rock star Elvis Presley, had been taken to the hospital in critical condition earlier that same day.
According to a spokesman for the fire department, paramedics from the County of Los Angeles were called to the Calabasas residence at 10:37 a.m., after a woman was found sustained in full cardiac arrest.
She was taken to a nearby hospital located in West Hills in order to receive proper medical attention and treatment as she recovered.
Approximately 30m (50 km) northwest of downtown LA, Calabasas is situated between the Mountains’ foothills of Santa Susanna and Santa Monica.
What Lisa’s admirers have to say
Lisa Presley was present at the Golden Globe awards held on Tuesday to congratulate Austin Butler on winning for his portrayal of her father in the drama “Elvis.” In a discussion with “Entertainment Tonight,” she referred to his work as “mind-blowing.”
When Kristen Sainato learned of Elvis Presley’s passing on Thursday, she and her husband were traveling to Memphis from Cleveland. At Graceland’s main entrance, Sainato placed a bunch of flowers on the ground. She answered, “Those are for Lisa.”
Lisa Marie Presley, according to her, was one of the last living relatives of her father.
“This has surprised everyone. Why? Why did it have to happen? Standing in front of the wall that surrounds the former residence turned museum,” Sainato stated while removing tears from her eyes. “She deserved a healthy and fulfilling life.”
A glimpse of Lisa’s early life
Lisa Marie, born in 1968, continued her father’s musical legacy by pursuing a music-related career. A total of three albums were published by the celebrity, with her debut album selling thousands of copies and getting generally positive reviews.
She had four kids, one of which was Riley Keough, an actor. In a recent article for People, Presley wrote about “the horrible reality” of her mourning in the wake of her son’s suicide in 2020.
“Since I was nine years old, I have dealt with abrupt deaths, sadness, and loss. I’ve experienced a lot more of it than anyone would have in a lifetime Yet somehow I’ve managed to get this far,” she stated in August.
