Interview with Matutu Nyabangey, Founder & CEO of HoookedUP. He worked in the health care industry for about 10 years, He is also currently working as a CEO For a mental health company located in Washington DC.
How did you get your idea or concept for the business?
I got the idea after being frustrated with the current social media trend. I was surfing through Instagram, and all I saw was pictures of people either showing off or just posing for likes-it snapped in my head.
And I was like, wouldn’t it be cool to create an app that would offer true meaningful connections that would actually connect and help people in real life rather than for likes.
I looked around for inspiration and saw what Apple did to revolutionize the smartphone industry, and I was like I can do that too. This prompted me to create the first social media app with other apps embedded in it. The purpose was to give people the ability to truly connect with others and providers that direct connection that no other app can offer!
How many people work for you currently?
I have about 20 people working for the company. We will expand the company operation this year and create employment opportunities for more people.
