Nicolette Mckenna Boat Accident

On August 26th, Nicolette Mckenna and three others were involved in a boat accident on the Lake of the Ozarks.

Bobby Childers, also from Sunrise Beach, was operating a Crownline boat while intoxicated when the accident occurred.

The boat was too close to a dock when it struck a large wake, causing it to collide with a breakwater. 

Nicolette was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and two other passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries.

Over 11 individuals were aboard the boat, with several being hurled into the water or against the breakwater, as conveyed by firefighters to KRMS Radio. 

The Osage Beach firefighters labelled the situation as “highly chaotic,” as reported by the radio station.

The Investigation

The Missouri State Highway Patrol immediately began investigations into the accident. 

Bobby Childers was arrested and charged with boating while intoxicated causing the death of another, and careless and imprudent operation. 

Patrol officers confirmed the arrest of Childers, holding him accountable for boating while intoxicated, leading to another’s demise, alongside charges of negligent and reckless operation.

The prosecutor’s office for Camden County handled the direct file against Childers, thus leading to formal charges.
