Early Life & Childhood 

Pattie Mallette, who is of French ancestry, was born on April 2, 1975, in Stratford, Ontario. She is the daughter of Michael Mallette and Diane M. (Henry). When Sally, her older sister, crossed the street and was hit by a car at age five, she died. She also has a Chris-named older brother.

According to Mallette, she experienced violent and s*xual abuse throughout her early childhood and was assaulted for the first time around the age of three.

A male babysitter, the grandfather of one of her friends, and older neighborhood children were among the people Mallette said were responsible for her offenses.

In her book, she described how she was s*xually abused since she was 14 and it continued which was also followed by an incident of date rape when she was only 15 years old. 

She has commented on the issue of s*xual abuse and violence saying: “I was s*xually violated so many times that as the years went by it began to feel normal. It’s a strange marriage – knowing something is wrong yet at the same time finding it familiar and commonplace.”

Struggles She Went Through After Her Parents Divorced

Well when that just wasn’t enough, she also mentions that her father was an abusive alcoholic and he abandoned her family after he got divorced from her mother. 

“When my dad left us, it ripped a hole in my heart—one that began filling with thoughts and feelings that would challenge and ultimately damage my identity and self-worth. The wound of being abandoned travels deep and forever changes you,” he stated once when she was asked about her parents. 

Pattie Was Abused S*xually As A Child & a Teen

Mallette showed a talent for singing and acting as a young child. She started making appearances on regional television shows at the age of nine, including Romper Room and the locally broadcast children’s talent competition Big Top Talent.

When she was ten years old, she was given roles in two plays as part of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, which annually draws more than 500,000 visitors. She participated in seven years of dance as well as every theater and choral program offered during middle and high school.

She was signed to a Toronto-based entertainment agency after winning multiple accolades and awards for her singing and acting. Mallette was upset when her parents were unable to make the commitment to drive her 1.5 hours to Toronto every weekend for auditions.

She started abusing drugs at the age of 14, including alcohol, marijuana, and LSD. Additionally, she began shoplifting. She was expelled from school after setting fire to school property in a restroom.

She started dating Jeremy Bieber when she was 15 years old, and they were together for four years. When she was 16 years old, she ran away and supported herself by stealing little items and trafficking drugs. She had feelings of isolation, depression, and suicidal thoughts at this time. When she was 17, she threw herself in front of a truck in an attempt to kill herself, which resulted in a stay in a psychiatric hospital.

Mallette rekindled acquaintances after being discharged from the hospital, but they didn’t help her newfound faith. She also got back in touch with Jeremy Bieber. After a year, she unexpectedly fell pregnant with Justin when she was only 17 years old. 

Despite being allegedly persuaded to get an abortion, she finally chose to keep the child. “I simply knew that I couldn’t. I was certain that I had to keep him, “She said to Today. “But I just knew I couldn’t have an abortion. I knew I had to give it my all, and I was prepared to go above and beyond.” He was born ten months after Jeremy and Pattie split up.

One month before she turned 19, Mallette gave birth to her son Justin on March 1, 1994, in London, Ontario. After the birth of their baby, Mallette and Jeremy Bieber initially stayed together but eventually broke up. Mallette assisted her parents in raising Justin.

She Embraced Religion After An Attempt To Suicide 

After her 17-year-old suicide attempt, Mallette converted to Christianity. She described the attempt as “a climax built up over the years of the abuse and the pain.” I was depressed and addicted to drinking and drugs at the time.

After speaking with a Christian counselor, she came to faith. During an interview with George Stroumboulopoulos, she stated, “I had individuals talking to me about God saying God can heal you”. He appeared dramatically, and that simply sort of what changed the way I saw everything.

How Did She & Justin’s Dad Meet?

After dating Jeremy Bieber intermittently starting when she was 15, Mallette was pregnant at the age of 17. (after her attempted suicide). Even though others thought she would abort the child, she was aware it wasn’t an option for her: “I simply knew that I couldn’t. I was certain that I had to keep him, “She spoke to Today. “But I just knew I couldn’t have an abortion. I knew I had to give it my all, and I was prepared to go above and beyond.”

She and Jeremy Bieber, Justin’s father, are close friends. “We’re close. We are friendly. I adore him as Justin’s father today “She spoke to Today. He’s a fantastic dad, and I consider him a friend, she added to Ellen.

Justin Bieber’s Mother is Celbate

Since turning 21, Mallette hasn’t had any intercourse and doesn’t intend to until she’s tied the knot. She admitted to Ellen DeGeneres in 2013 that she takes her commitment very seriously. “I recall writing it down on a piece of paper and having someone witness it when I first created it. It is significant. I’ve come this far; I’m not giving up now.”

Mallette Always Encouraged Her Son’s Talent, She Was Also A Child Performer Herself  

When Mallette noticed her son’s interest in music at age two, she encouraged him in his abilities. She entered Justin in the local “Stratford Star” talent competition in 2007, where he placed second after singing “So Sick” by Ne-Yo. 

For the benefit of their family and friends, Mallette uploaded a video of the performance on YouTube, and when her son’s popularity online expanded, she also uploaded footage of the following performances.

She was a child performer like Justin, which is why she constantly encouraged her son and posted his early YouTube performances. Mallette began making TV appearances at the age of nine and adored the limelight. 

She admitted to George Stroumboulopoulos that it served as her “escape from reality. “Being on stage, you get to be somebody else […] my life was really painful as a child. I had a love for the arts that I share with Justin, and we kinda bonded over that.”

Justin Drifted Apart From His Mum For Almost 2 Years

According to People, Justin and his mother were estranged for around two years during his wilder years. In 2015, 

Justin opened up to Billboard about their difficult times, claiming the relationship was strained and “Rather nonexistent. I distanced myself out of shame. My mother is disappointed with me, but I never wanted her to be. 

It takes time to rebuild that trust because we went a while without communicating. It’s challenging, but getting easier. She is a wonderful woman, and I adore her.”
