rachel thompson murder

Rachel Thompson murder occurred on February 26, 2010. Her two young sons were found dead in a bathtub.

Rachel, 23, was a loving single parent to her sons, Torian Thompson-Carter, 4, Jaden Thompson-Carter, 3, and 6-week-old Maurice Visor Jr., in February 2010.

Rachel and her sons lived in a twin apartment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on the 800 block of S. 12th Street, with her 9-year-old roommate, Brittney M. Robertson.

Who was Rachel Thompson?

Rachel Marie Thompson was born on July 25, 1986, to Robin Thompson and Jesse Pammaskah. Freddy Williams, her mother’s partner, stabbed her mother, Robin, and grandmother, Laramie D. Thompson, to death in 1993.

Rachel was just six years old when Tom and Tina Thompson adopted her.

Her uncle, Todd Moreno, said on the show, “She (Rachel) really loved the winters. She enjoyed taking the kids, sledding, and making snow angels. She put her children above everything. Her life was based on giving her children the best life they could possibly have.”

According to her family, Rachel was studying to become a daycare teacher and dreamed of establishing her own daycare.

The brutal murder

On 26th February, Rachel’s neighbor heard the fire alarm and hurried upstairs to find smoke. He dialed 911, and firefighters rushed to find her body.

After discovering her body, the officials stated that she had been stabbed, her neck slit. The duct tape was wrapped over her limbs, and plastic was melted on her face.

According to the autopsy report, she died due to severe force trauma and stabbing injuries.

They hurried inside to discover Torian and Jaden’s bodies. Rachel’s children wrapped with duct tape and polythene bags put over their heads in the bathtub. According to police investigations, the two youngsters died of suffocation.

At the murder spot, authorities found no trace of forced entry, and around $800 was stolen from the flat. Unexpectedly, Rachel’s roommate Brittney’s body was discovered hours later on Milwaukee’s northwest side.

She was shot in the back of the head at close range with a 9mm revolver.

Who murdered Brittney Robertson and Rachel Thompson?

Rachel’s neighbor informed police that her child, Maurice, and her roommate, Brittney, were missing.

As a result, the police quickly issued an AMBER alert and began searching for the missing baby. They also broadcast Brittney’s face on all major news outlets, believing that the perpetrator(s) had taken a woman along with Maurice Jr.

Rachel’s family began to dread the worst as the hours passed. They claim she and her boyfriend, Maurice Visor, did not get along and recently had heated disagreements after she caught him cheating.

Maurice was also discovered to be only the biological father of infant Maurice and not of Jaden and Torian, putting him under suspicion.

Nevertheless, he was immediately cleared when law enforcement agencies discovered that he was in jail at the time of the murder and had been for three months. Meanwhile, a lady found infant Maurice outside Eastbrook Church at 5385 N. Green Bay Avenue in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Although no videotape at the church helped police figure out how the infant got there, a witness told them she saw a lady escape in a car just before the baby was discovered.

After confirming that the kid was OK, the investigators questioned Maurice Sr. and discovered a shocking truth: Brittney was his ex-girlfriend. Now confident she was involved, the investigators began tracking her down, only to find her death a few hours later in northwest Milwaukee.

After losing a couple of their most promising leads, the detectives were at a loss until a tip came in.

Brittney was seen on television by a Milwaukee hotel manager, who phoned the police to report that she had checked into his hotel at 5:30 p.m. on February 26, 2010, with two young African-American guys and a baby.

When the police arrived on the site, one of the young males presented an offender card named Anthony Edward Barnes to sign in.

Furthermore, they discovered that the second guy, Desmond Laster, had signed his name in the hotel registration book.

They also watched the hotel surveillance video to observe the two guys leave with Brittney and the baby.

The police quickly arrested Anthony at his brother’s house, and he gave Desmond’s address, allowing the officers to arrest him as well.

Both males had significant past convictions, with Anthony guilty of misuse of personal identification, disorderly conduct, escaping an officer, and driving without a license.

Desmond has previously been convicted of criminal property damage, escape-criminal custody, cocaine consumption, operator flee/elude officer, second-degree unlawfully endangering safety, and criminal asset damage. While the latter hesitated to speak, Anthony confessed everything to win a plea deal.

Where are Desmond Laster and Anthony Barnes Jr. now?

Brittney, according to Anthony, was obsessed with Maurice Sr. and was possessive of the victim even after taking her in as a roommate.

As a result, she and Desmond went to Rachel’s house and murdered her and her young son.

The trio then escaped with the baby and around $800 in their pocket.

They abandoned the boy at the church because they couldn’t keep him quiet and were afraid of drawing attention to themselves.

After seeing Brittney’s face all over the news, the two guys were worried, and Anthony shot her on Desmond’s orders.

The men were then charged with four charges of first-degree criminal murder, one crime of being a felon in possession of a handgun, and one crime of arson to a building, respectively.

Anthony testified against Desmond and confessed his involvement in the three killings and robberies as part of a plea bargain, and he was sentenced to 40 years in jail.

Desmond was convicted of first-degree intentional murder in March 2011 and sentenced to four life sentences without the possibility of release.

Desmond, now 34, is serving his term in the Waupun Correctional Institution, while Anthony, now 36, is jailed at the Green Bay Correctional Institution, according to official court publications.
