According to records, the UK’s richest people have suffered from tens of billions of pounds due to the pandemic of coronavirus as their combined annual wealth dropped for the first time in a decade but still, London manages to continue being the billionaire capital of the world.

The following is the list of the top 10 richest people in the UK:

1. Len Blavatnik

  • Networth: $26.9B
  • Age: 63 
  • Source of income: music, chemicals, Self Made
  • Residence: London, United Kingdom
  • Len Blavatnik earned his wealth by selling his stake in Russian oil company TNK-BP for $7 billion in 2013.
  • He bought Warner Music in 2011 for $3.3 billion.

His investment firm Access Industries owns stakes in chemicals firm LyondellBasell, e-commerce firm Rocket Internet, and fashion label Tory He has dual citizenship of the U.S. and the U.K. 

2. James Ratcliffe

  • Networth: $18.2B
  • Age: 67
  • Source of income: chemicals, Self Made
  • Residence: London, United Kingdom

Former chemical engineer James Ratcliffe is the founder, chairman, and majority owner of chemical powerhouse Ineos Group.

The London reside conglomerate offers everything from synthetic oils and plastics to solvents used to produce insulin and antibiotics.

It has also become one of the greatest parts in the U.K. shale sector after entering the market in 2014.

Its “Dragon Ships” behemoth 600-foot gas carriers, were the first to carry U.S. shale gas into Europe.

3. Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken & family

Jorn Rausing’s grandfather established Tetra Pak, which made aseptic ­packaging technology.

The packaging made it feasible to store drinks like milk and orange juice in cartons instead of glass bottles.

His late father, Gad, bought out Jorn’s uncle Hans in 1995 for an approximated $7 billion.

Jörn and his two siblings Kirsten and Finn hold equal stakes in TetraLaval and remain on the board of the parent company.

Rausing also holds a piece of online grocery retailer Ocado and, with his siblings, a stake in International Flavors & Fragrances.

5. Hinduja brothers

Four siblings, Srichand, Gopichand, Prakash, and Ashok, power multinational conglomerate the Hinduja Group.

Their group of businesses varying from trucks and lubricants to banking and cable television.

The brothers hold high-priced real estate in London, including the historic Old War Office building in Whitehall, which will house a Raffles Hotel.

In June 2020, a U.K. court filing disclosed a conflict between the eldest Srichand with his three younger brothers over the possession of a Geneva bank.

8. Lakshmi Mittal

Lakshmi Mittal serves as chairman and CEO of $70.6 billion ArcelorMittal which is the world’s biggest steel and mining company by production.

Recognizing from a steel clan, he parted from his siblings to begin Mittal Steel then moved to merge the company with France’s Arcelor in 2006.

The company announced a net loss of $2.5 billion in 2019, due to lower steel prices and more expensive raw materials.

9. David Reuben

  • Age: 82
  • Source of income: investments, real estate, Self Made
  • Residence: London, United Kingdom

Brothers David and Simon Reuben made their wealth in real estate and technology.

In December 2016, they sold 49% of their data center business, GlobalSwitch, to a consortium of Chinese investors for nearly $3 billion.
