The Importance of Learning How To Perform Well By Joel Samuels

Joel Samuels is a professional athlete and businessman who has learned the importance of performing well. He also helps others learn how they too can perform well in all aspects of their life.

At a young age, Joel learned the importance of setting himself up to perform well in all aspects of his life. He realized this when he found the sport of hockey and started playing on a team.

At first, he felt different from the rest of his predominantly white teammates, but he soon found his place when he made the commitment to become the best hockey player on the ice.

He knew that being the best player is something that no one could take away from him. So, he set himself up to perform well on the ice by constantly training, going to hockey camps worldwide and perfecting his skills.

He soon started winning multiple awards such as the 2x ACC Ice Hockey Champion (2009/2010), 2x MACH Ice Hockey Champion (2011/2013), 3x Regionals Ice Hockey Participant (2011/2012/2013), and the Nationals Ice Hockey Participant in 2012 (1st time in VT history).

He not only performed well in his hockey endeavors but in his academic endeavors as well. He received the “George T Estelle M Crowder” scholarship and attended Virginia Tech. There, he was not only on the hockey team, but he was also double majoring in Economics and Agribusiness Management.

During his time at Virginia Tech, there was a fallout of admins who refused to support a promising hockey team. So, Joel and his teammates decided to take matters into their own hands and support the team through direct management

He also got to go to London and attend Richmond—the American International University. After graduating, he decided to attend Chapman University in California where he pursued his MBA. He also got the opportunity to join the Anaheim Ducks—a professional hockey team.

After graduating, he decided to take a leadership role in the Innovation and Business Development Department at the family business—Maxx Performance.

He has been able to manage his full-time role at the company and his career as a professional hockey player in a way that allows him to perform well in both tasks.

On top of that, Joel has a passion for helping others achieve both mental and physical health. He explains: “I want everyone to succeed in their own right. To avoid complacency with our daily lives and, most importantly, attract the energy you feel is favorable to your needs and growth. Through encouragement and recognition, we can all build each other up.”

One of the things that he loves to teach others is the motto: “I CAN, I WILL, and I DID.” He explains that “I CAN” represents you standing “at the crossroads of what you want to do and all the reasons why you can’t do it.”

He goes on to say that you can do it, but you have to truly believe that you can do it and that no one else can do it for you. In other words, it’s up to you to accomplish your own goals.

“I WILL” is the planning stage. He explains: “Once you’ve accepted the fact that you’re capable of being freaking awesome, you have to devise a plan for a full-on life takeover. It’s kind of like goal setting. Except, instead of using words like ‘I want’ or ‘I wish,’ that are passive, we’re focusing on action.”

In this phase, it is all about creating realistic steps that you can take action on, and it is all about actions that are meaningful to you and that will bring you closer to your goal.

Lastly, there is the “I DID” step. Joel explains that “it’s easy to think about what you want to do or what you would do if… But, it’s tricky and scary to follow through with making a change. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t do it or that you shouldn’t try.”

He goes on to say: “Anyone who is truly happy and has found happiness or purpose in their lives, didn’t just talk about what they wanted to do; they did something about it.”

In other words, follow through with your plan. If you want to truly accomplish anything, you must actually be willing to do the work that is needed to get to your goal.

In the future, Joel hopes to continue to perform well in all aspects of his life while also teaching and inspiring others on how they can do the same.

All in all, Joel Samuels is a successful athlete and businessman whose life demonstrates the importance of learning how to perform well in everything through having a goal and carrying out that goal through hard work and dedication.
