We all might aware of the modest beginnings of tech giants like Apple and Google that began at garages before coming to be gigantic corporations.

Nevertheless, there is an automobile company whose origin story is very extraordinary. Do you want to know which entrepreneur made tractors before entering the sports car business?

If you are a sports car fan, the answer is obvious to you. So, here we are covering the whole story of Ferruccio Lamborghini struggling in this article.

The invention of sports cars has improved the automobile industry’s geography, but one sports car company that leads the world did not begin as a sports car company.

Yes, it is created under the name of Ferruccio Lamborghini who was the entrepreneur who used to make tractors before entering the sports car business.

Lamborghini is an Italian brand that becomes popular when it comes to sports cars.

Who is Ferruccio Lamborghini?

Lamborghini was founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini who was born on April 28, 1916, and passed away on February 20, 1993. He was an Italian entrepreneur who launched his Italian brand of the sports car in Sant’Agata Bolognese in 1963. The title of the sports car company was Automobili Lamborghini.

Ferruccio came from a very humble background without any connections to the auto industry. His parents were grape farmers in Renazzo, in the commune of Cento, placed in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.

Lamborghini did not set out to manufacture sports cars; earlier, he had adequate mechanical works awareness. That proficiency allowed him to begin his business of tractor manufacturing. In 1948, Ferruccio established his tractor company called  Lamborghini Trattori.

Ferruccio Enter to the World of Entrepreneurship

Ferruccio had a good understanding of mechanical works. He set up a garage in Pieve di Cento after the 2nd World War ended. Lamborghini had an old Fiat Topolino at that time, which he enhanced using his mechanical know-how.

He turned that ordinary car into a sports car and took part in the Mille Miglia of 1948.  Lamborghini had a perception of the future. He realized that there would be capacity for an agricultural and industrial market in Italy after World War 2.

The First Lamborghini Tractor

First Lamborghini Tractor was created in 1951. He invented his first batch of “L 33” tractors by using six-cylinder petrol engines from military trucks. Petrol was quite luxurious at that time in Italy.

Which Entrepreneur Made Tractors Before Entering Sports Car Business?

Lamborghini entered into the agricultural equipment business with the supply of parts of military vehicle engines. Still, Ferruccio used his expertise to build a fuel atomizer that enabled Morris petrol engines to start with petrol and shift to diesel fuel, which was cheaper back then.

Tractor Business Of The Company

The huge scale success of Carioca tractors gave him the initial push to establish his first company which is Lamborghini Trattori. The systematic manufacturing of tractors was begun. This is how the legendary automobile industrialist reached into the world of entrepreneurship, and the rest is history.

Lamborghini Stop Making Tractors

In 1973, Lamborghini stopped making tractors after selling the Lamborghini Trattori to SAME(now SDF group).

SAME is an honorable name in the international tractor market. They build their own tractors while still another range of Lamborghini tractors.

The Story of Lamborghini With Ferrari Fight Banter

Ferruccio Lamborghini possessed a Ferrari 250 GT, and he had problems with its grip and therefore he decided to visit Enzo Ferrari (who was the then owner and founder of Ferrari S.p.A), to deal with his problems. Enzo decided to explain the problems by way of affronting Ferruccio. Enzo told that there was some issue with the driver and not his car. Enzo also made disrespectful comments about tractors built by Ferruccio.

“Lamborghini, you may be able to drive a tractor, but you will never be able to handle a Ferrari Properly.” These were the same words used by Enzo when Ferruccio approached him. That was the time when Ferruccio Lamborghini determined to build sports cars.

It looked like Enzo was in no condition to learn that cars produced by him could have any problems. Instead of taking Ferruccio’s into consideration, he wanted to embarrass him and the tractors manufactured by him. But Ferruccio Lamborghini was no less, he took this disrespects as a challenge and went to manufacturing sports cars as well. His cars are a feast to customers’ eyes, no less than a dream come true.

When did Lamborghini start making cars?

It was in 1948, after World War II, that Ferruccio Lamborghini began to try his luck in different businesses. Until yet, he worked as a mechanic in the Italian Royal Air Force. Ferruccio produced agricultural equipment and tractors. He also possessed various other companies.

It happened in 1963 when the Lamborghini built sports cars. This decision of manufacturing sports cars was a consequence of the insult by Enzo Ferrari, which arose from the problems he had with the Ferrari owned by Lamborghini, that he tried to address. In 1963, Lamborghini manufactured his first sports car, which was the Lamborghini 350 GTV, which was a Lamborghini prototype and forerunner of the automaker’s first production model, the 350 GT. This car was not a substantial hit, it received both positive and negative response from the media, but Ferruccio himself was not as convinced with the design of the car.

But later on, Automobile Lamborghini S.p.A. went on to become the most useful investment of the automotive industry. It is some of the enormous and most famous sports car manufacturers across the world. The most of the world believes that the cars manufactured by Lamborghini are dream cars.

Lamborghini Vision

Automobili Lamborghini is devoted to assure that its economic and business objectives are even with the continuous modification of environmental protection and energy efficiency. The company is developing an integrated environmental strategy based on creations in both its production processes and its products. Also, with their creative technology and outstanding performance, they strive to redefine the driving experience for luxury super sports cars.

Their Corporate Social Responsibility strategy is attempted to establish value through a responsible technique to the area in which the company operates, helping to ensure sustainable economic and social development, with a constant focus on ecology, to preserve the planet for current and future generations.

Ferruccio was an extraordinary man, and he was a man who has faith in hard work. Ferruccio Lamborghini is an entrepreneur who made tractors before reaching the sports car business. From being born to farmers to serving as a mechanic in the Italian Royal Air Force to being an affluent businessman, the journey was never comfortable. Still, Ferruccio’s persistence and hardships made it apparent
