According to Roshan George Thomas, an individual must be ready to take up new challenges every now and then in order to be successful in his chosen career path – and we couldn’t agree more.
Roshan George is the Senior Director of Hilal Computers, regional IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization. The Bahrain-based company was founded in 1989 to provide IT solutions, technical services to large corporate enterprises along with consultancy, enterprise solutions, networking and engineering support. In 2018, “Hilal Computers entered the Michael Dell Global Top 20 Presidents Club in 2018-19”. In the same year, the company was given the Best Support and Services Award for the Jazan Gas Project, the world’s largest industrial gas complex.
In 2011, Roshan along with Shijas Mohidheen, another Senior Director at Hilal Computers, was entrusted with the responsibility to open and regionally expand into Saudi Arabia. The company initially started off in Al-Khobar and 10 years down the road, they have successfully expanded within the country and are now covering 5 regions namely Khobar, Jubail, Riyadh, Jeddah, and Jizan. The Saudi region is currently lead by the company’s Sales Director, Praveen Nambiar.
According to Roshan, embracing challenges is a crucial step in business growth, transformation, and long-term sustainability due to many reasons. Firstly, encountering a challenge assists you in business transformation. You get a chance to do something new with a new set of people (at times), which does not only improve your professional but interpersonal skills as well. “Our company’s regional expansion during volatile times led to sustainability, growth, and transformation. It resulted in our company becoming a globally recognized IT services provider, which is indeed the vision of our Managing Director, Hardy Koshy,” says Roshan.
Besides this, taking up challenges also helped Hilal Computers grow their network and make some lasting relationships. While recalling his personal experience, Roshan shared that embracing this journey of expanding Hilal Computers across the Middle East region was only possible due to the company’s long-standing clients who were serviced by competent team members, who invested their efforts in other regions.
Most importantly, Roshan believes that embracing challenges lead to Hilal Computers becoming a unique enterprise in the region.” In Roshan’s case, it was the company that continuously kept stimulating its team members and this was an overall boost for business growth. “Embracing transformation initiatives fuels change and overall sustainability of the system,” Roshan says.
After the inception of Hilal Computers Technical for Trade Company in Saudi Arabia, Northstar Computers was conceived in the UAE. The company won the “global honors” in UAE for its smart gates initiative at Dubai Airport, which is proof of their efficiency and ability to cope up with challenges.
