Short and sometimes funny, GIFs are a very popular and happy way to communicate on the internet GIFs are normally small scenes from famous TV shows and movies converted into short video fragments.

No matter your purpose, creating a GIF is easier than it seems.

GIFs are an essential part of communicating especially on social media. Twitter and Reddit users have been using GIF efficiently for years. Also, Facebook made them an official part of the platform.

In this article, we are going to explain to you how to make GIF files from a YouTube video with some easy online tools. Each of the features of the tool is simple enough that you will be able to GIFs in just a few minutes. But before we start, we want to emphasize that you require a great video to make a great GIF.

Why use a GIF instead of a video?

GIFs are the quick and precise way of expressing the emotions of any kind in a big, recognizable way. They rarely last over 5 seconds, and they normally have small file sizes too, so they do not stop web pages from loading immediately.

Convert YouTube Video To GIFS:

While there are several ready-made GIFs accessible on platforms like Giphy, creating your own is quite easy. Let’s take a glance at some different possibilities of creating the GIFs according to your choice. You can use a Mac, PC, or mobile device to use a GIF creator.

Use GIFs.com:

Step 1: search for the YouTube video that you like to convert into a GIF and copy its URL.

Step 2: Navigate to GIFs.com. Paste your selected YouTube URL into the given white box on the left side of the page. It will automatically perceive it.  You can also upload your own videos to the site by clicking the Drag & Drop or select file option.

Step 3: If your image shows an ad in the lower-left side, make sure to click the X to make it vanish otherwise it will come in your GIF. Then, click the timeline below the image and choose the starting and ending times for your animated GIF. A blue bar suggests the duration that will be obtained.

You can create it as long or as short as you want, but it is important to know the length of the animation, the bigger the file size will be. Some platforms where you want to share the GIF might put a restriction on the size. For instance, Twitter has a GIF maximum limit of 5MB on mobile devices, and 15MB on desktop, although 15MB is regarded as a very, very large GIF file.

Then, include some effects, a title, or a sticker if you like. You can also crop the image, as well as add other effects like blurring, padding, and others which may suit your new meme or just make the image easier to watch. When you are done with editing, click Create Gif in the top right-hand corner.

It may take some moment to generate the image, especially if you are generating a long GIF, so have some patience.

Step 4: The next page asks that you confirm the GIF’s title, as well as choose any tags you would like it to have. Click Next when you complete the setting according to your preferences.

Step 5: The final page will provide you choices for downloading, embedding, or sharing your newly created GIF. You are also provided a preview to glimpse what it looks like. If you like to omit the watermark in the corner you can, but it will say signing up to the premium service which begins from $2 a month, and it is not something you require to do for casual GIF-making. To download your GIFs, click the Download button. If you are not signed up for a free Gifs.com account, you will be asked to sign up in order to download your GIFs.

Use Giphy for high-speed results:

Another outstanding online GIF creating service is Giphy. It supports YouTube and Vimeo links, as well as manually created GIFs from photos. It also has a host of various options for customizing your GIF, putting in captions, and other characteristics to make it just you like.

Step 1: Copy the YouTube URL you like to make a GIF from and navigate to Giphy.com’s GIF maker.

Step 2: Paste your YouTube URL into the input box at the base of the page. As you can notice, you can also upload your own videos or GIFs to work with. You will be encouraged to log into a Giphy account and you will not be able to make GIFs on this site without it.

Step 3: Select the starting time and length of your GIF and hit the Continue to Decorate button.

Step 4: Add a description or give title if you want, as well as add any stickers of drawn overlays. When done, click the Continue to Upload button.

Step 5: Wait for the GIF to be generated. If it is long, it will take some time. When completely created, hit the Upload to the GIPHY button to publish it.

Step 6: You can now use the given links to download your new GIF, copy it, embed it on a website, and share it with your friends.

These are some of different and easy methods of creating GIFs from YouTube videos, we hope this article will help you in your work. If you have any question, feel free to ask
